Should a book be written

After watching lot of Kill Bill, a strong thought has occured. I can change the whole story line to go in what i call Tarantino way

I would have an incident involving four characters and then trace back all four characters lives to that incident

Four characters need not have anything in common ( other than the obvious IIT tag ) By this I mean they can be from different IIT's, different branches, unknown to others or known (depending on my convienience

The incident would be based on the theme of book.. "Without a girfriend" like they being hurt by lack of Girlfriend or something of that sort.

Then it would go back and trace a particular part of ones life. I would be combining each one's together, not exactly Pulp Fiction type...but inspired by it

I am of opinion that it would be 14 chapters. So it would be 4 -5 chapters for each character and somehow joining them. I am still working on them.

The final chapter would end on hope that there lifes would turn around and that they would make special efforts to do so.

I would like a poll on which of these 2 type should i use and why also?

The underlying theme of Sports

After watching last night's Champions League Finals, I have decided there would be a theme of football in the whole book. I would have all the drama and suspense of football in my book.
My characters would love to play and watch football, not all of them but atleast 3 of them. I would have an incidence of inter hostel championship and also this teams goes on to be the surprise underdogs in the first year six-a side footer at Sangam.They would create the revolution of football craziness in Alak. This craziness will have fights of which team to support. Watching TV at 12.15 in night and support there teams, painting of the other supporters doors with BLUE This craziness would culminate in winning of Schroeter football in 3rd year and 4th year and building of solid football side.

Developing of Central Character- Continuation

I have decided to have a Ghost Charachter, as a narrator.

The setting would be IIT Madras(for obvious reasons..I know only this IIT and all there lingo).

I would have four characters : whose life I would be tracking in this book. These people would be from different parts of India
Characters profile: He would be a Computer Science grad from Tamil Nadu( a tam)
A gult in mechanical Engineering
yet another gult in Chemical ( for obvious reasons of having fun)
A guy from a village in Bihar in Civil ( I couldnt leave Civil...it has been my supporter for four years. this would be my way of repaying those BSB buildings)

I would have them in hostel called Alak. I know this hostel and I can relate to all floors and mess and Common room, carrom room, SAC Night Canteen...Mess room behind and Garden.

Lets give these characters some names rather nicknames: ( I cant think of them now. So I am leaving this for suggestions. For Now they would be A, B, C, D).

Room number 268: A and B
Room number 267 for C and D
(My memory of room numbers is good :)) )

Now for the important thing : Girlfriends in this Book : None of these Characters have a girlfriend. they have been slogging all there life and end up without a girlfriend till now.
As for they being smart/handsome looking... I would play around with Characters.
None too fat. None too smart handsome looking. All avarage Indians..of heights varying from 5.4 to 6.0ft
some athletic and some....

So this is the development for today.

Defining a central Character

Today would be development of central character of the book. Since it is a book about people wihout a girlfriend, there is no dearth in charachter inspiration from our hostel or around....almost none had a girlfriend when in college :))

The ideas that I am looking at can be of this way

1. Have one central Character and his life and attempts to get Girlfriend. This would be put in his life of 4 years.

2. Have a narrator explaining 3 charachters , with different personalities and there attempts to get a girlfriend. Each would have a unique gift and has his own fundaes of achieving the target.

As for inspiration...Lots of them exist....I would say Catoor ( a high probable character). ..Boondi ( another strong contender) ....Chari also could be inspirational... Percent can also be an inspiration (but it might not suite now).

For People who do not know these characters...these are extremely interesting characters, whose life can be made into a book seperately

These are the developments for today. Need your ideas to be developed faster. My Publisher is waiting for the Book :)).

Should I write a Book

As I have been reading a book called " Five Point Someone" by an author whose only selling point is his IIT Degree, a thought struck me, the first movers have a market and so do the second movers. This thought makes me thing of writing a book using the brand IIT. So i have decided to follow it up by pouring in some thoughts of the title and the central idea of the book.

The target audience would be IITians...they have the pride that it is something written about them and tha they should read it. Nowadays I am all into psychology of people and this is one thing that I have learnt.

also the people not from IIT would read a book which is about IIT just to know what they have missed out. So my target audience is huge and nowadays so many books are read that I would get back my money and also make a moderate profit ( a 100K is decent money to target)

"Without a Girlfriend" even after IIT. This is an interesting idea that I thought should be explored. After seeing some 4-5 batches, I would conclude that the technical sound( that is what they call them, although I know hundreds who are not at all inclined towards it, including myself) engineers supposed to cause revolution in the country adn change the way the wrganizations work cannot secure there lifes in terms of love pursuits.

This would be the starting paragraph.

The next page would be dedicated to statistics.

Statistics would start with Indian population....male female ratio.....age group....people who are already fixed with someone...some girls are too irritaing to count...by going this way I would come to a figure that would make it look like a task which is more difficult than getting a Harvard MBA degree.

The next chapter would be ddicated to profile of an avarage IIT ian...all too studious without good looks and good sense of humour....

This I would clain would be how people would be when they entr IIT. at the end of the book I would transform him to a Confident man..with nice body( courtesy IIT gym)....develop some sense of humour and ready to take the world....but by this time the group he has been targetting is all hooked up and his hopes are dashed once again.

This is the thoughts for the Day 1. Next thoughts would follow in an update and also based on suggestions.
